After Seal Rocks, we headed on to Port Macquarie and crashed in on Cameron’s family for Christmas (thanks Barbara and Howard for your wonderful hospitality!). It was great to find a real shower and bed for a few days (while Seal Rocks wasn’t exactly extreme camping, you do still miss life’s little conveniences…)
Coming from a family which doesn’t really do anything for Christmas it was really nice to experience one firsthand. We we’re continuously spoilt with a smorgasbord of delicious food including amazing seafood:

And of course… the Turduken!

We also had the chance to hang out with some cool furry Batts. (This photo also sums up how I felt after eating my way through Christmas…)

During our stay at Port Macquarie we managed to get in a day trip to the nearby town of Comboyne located in the hinterland area. The purpose of the trip was to meet up with the Adam (our mysterious 4th member of the team) and work with him for a day. It was my first time to the area and I was pretty stunned by how beautiful the region was.

Once again, we we’re spoilt by our hosts, Adam’s wife Elyse and her family, with tons of delicious Christmas treats.

Though I think I’m going to have to double the distance of my runs to compensate…
We’re a bit sad to leave Port Macquarie for Southwest Rocks, but we have to head up there a few days before NYE as we don’t have a camping spot booked and need to hustle for one out of the very limited spots available in Hat Head National Park. The next edition will hopefully herald our success. Till then, I’ll leave you with a picture of Gabe practising his bowling technique (which turns out to far better than Cam’s. I think he’s the only person I know who can bowl a six…)
