Now that our choice of campsite seemed settled we took some time to check out the surrounds. Once again we had a beautiful beach just meters away from our campsite. Though this time we had it almost to ourselves as there were only a handful of other campers in the national park.
I took some time to get a run in as some kind of offset on NYE indulgences. The beach run was great, you had to be careful to not step on fresh bluebottles but it’s not like you didn’t have enough room…

I think we somehow developed a serious case of campsite envy while we were at Southwest Rocks. After some convincing by Cam, we decided to move yet again to better accommodate all the friends we had joining us for NYE. How do you move camp and avoid packing / unpacking your campsite fully? Like this!

By the time we’d moved the campsite over some of our friends had already begun to arrive (and the suckers got themselves conscripted into camp moving duty, what are friends for!) All in all we’d managed to upgrade significantly in terms of campsite. Our new site was away from any other campers so we were able to make some noise, and a nice amount of shade from nearby trees (which would be good later on when we needed to work during the day) and was still quite close to the beach. With all the hard work done, we could finally get our party on.
The next day my partner, Carlie, arrived from the Gold Coast to stay with us for a couple of days (which was super exciting) and we took a walk up to the nearby lighthouse. Apart from being gigantic and dishing out some sore calves, the hill also had some pretty nice views of the surrounding area.

And just like that, NYE was upon us! It was probably the most unique and enjoyable NYE party I’ve ever been to. We built a giant bonfire on the beach and had fire pit barbecue under the stars.

And it resulted in one of my favourite photos of Rocket26 too!

All in all it was a blast, and it was great to have a bunch of friends joining us on the Adventure too. :-)
